TIF WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME (TIF-WEP)
The TIF Women’s Empowerment Programme (TIF-WEP) is designed to provide business and live support services to widows who are the breadwinners of their families. Through this intervention the Foundation hopes to enable widows to lead their lives with a reasonable degree of stability, support, and access to resources required for their basic needs. In addition, to empower them to find satisfaction in life while they raise their children.
The Women Empowerment Program proposes the following initiatives:
- Micro-credit Scheme (MICS):
The need for a micro-credit scheme which can deliver the world’s smallest loans to the world’s poorest people has in recent years become increasingly recognised. The TIF- Microcredit Scheme provides interest free loans to widows with a flexible repayment plan that spans over a period of 20 months. This program is effective to boost the economic activities of widows, increasing their household income and enabling them to cater for their families. Furthermore, to support the timely repayment of the loans, the widows are grouped into Self-Help-Groups (SHGs).
- Skills Acquisition & Vocational Scheme (SAVS):
Widows are mostly the breadwinners of their families and require assistance to alleviate the heavy financial burdens they carry. They need skill acquisition, long term support and income generating activities. The TIF-WEP Skills Acquisition & Vocational Scheme (SAVS) is designed to provide sustainable income generating skills for widows and vulnerable women who are the breadwinners of their families.
- Small and Medium Enterprise (SAME):
The TIF- Small and Medium Enterprise (TIF-SAME) program was created to enhance self-initiatives and encourage women, especially widows and young women student to establish small and medium enterprises as an effective income generating activity. SAME works to assist entrepreneurial by providing them with assistance to finance, training and the follow-up required to succeed in their chosen trade or profession. The Foundation partners with developmental organizations, civil society and the private sector to deliver this program.
- TIF- Live Support Scheme (TIF-LSS): At TIF, we understand that a little help at a crucial moment can change the lives of widows and their families. Therefore, we provide live support scheme through counseling, as well as empowering non-active widows and orphans.
- Agric-Business Scheme (ABS): The TIF – Agric-Business Scheme (TIF-ABS) is designed to empower rural widows as well as vulnerable women to work in the agricultural sector, providing access to finance, knowledge and training to enable them to have sustainable livelihoods through farming and guaranteeing food security for their children.
- Reusable Sanitary Pads Scheme (RSPS): The TIF-RSPS is a Program designed to train and empower widows, regarding the project aims of helping girls remain attending schools through the provision of reusable sanitary pads.
- TIF training sessions aim to enable widows to become more skilled and able to make affordable reusable products that respond to female students’ needs and preferences for personal hygiene products.
- Legal Support Services (LSS): The TIF-LSS aim to provide free legal consultations to hundreds of widows and orphans for Small and Medium Enterprise (SAME) Program.
